It is the mid-eighties when a group of expatriates from Australia, New Caledonia, New Zealand, the United States and Japan meet and form friendships in a small country in the tropical south Pacific. Developing friendships with local people help to establish familiarity with the culture and lifestyle of the society. Over time, past lives are glimpsed and are woven into the fabric of the narrative.
